Rírá, a new young fairy meets another fairy, Ruaille Buaille, and they play all day under the sun. When night falls Ruaille Buaille disappears. Rírá goes to the king of the fairies who sends him to the king of the hill fairies, the king of the moon fairies and the king of the sea fairies for help. He searches all night, to no avail. Then, when the sun rises, his friend reappears. The king explains to him that his friend is actually his shadow.
